Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet, including her self launched single Bound. The 21st day of July, 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. The release album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. in 2018, the singer-songwriter performed on two tracks featuring EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. Then, in November, she released the singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. The 13th of November, she came out with two additional singles, The No One as well as Pedigree. She then appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album the same title. The song was followed by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019 that surpassed three million views on YouTube within one week. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
